Guy Tillim. The view from San Jose, Olivia Street, Berea, looking east over Yeoville, 2005.
I’m going to be spending the next month intensively researching and writing about the work of South African photographer Guy Tillim.
I’m okay with that (I love his body of work) but I find it impossible to accurately capture a place I’ve never been- not to mention the weight of a psycholocial legacy I can’t experience.
Oh, South Africa, what am I to do?
[Update: I am to spend pounds I don’t have on catalogues out of print.]
